Hi
we are two late forties aussies coming back for a second trip in europe we need some info on trains buses etc and cheap but not krummy accommodation to stay in. Any advice would be appreciated.

ireland has really nice places to stay, and cheap. my parents came over a while ago and stayed in B&Bs which were cheap and aaaaaall over the place! better than hostels for your age group i think...

but in defense of hostels, there are some good ones where you can get private rooms...

trains and busses are safe - but are you talking about just within the city or between countries etc?

I can recommend accommodation in several countries in Europe - let us know which ones you plan to visit.

This may be a bit random but the best cheap accommodation I've stayed in lately was on the Isle of Eigg in the highlands - the Glebe Barn hostel there was fantastic, and the island is beautiful. I think it was about £12 each, per night. So if you're heading up to Northern Scotland that might be worth a go.
