Hi ya

Bottom line is this.....We dont have the time to visit both of these paces when we visit india in May (yes i know, its gonna b scorchin!)

Those of you that have visited 1 or the other or both, id really appreciate any advice you can give on must see's and also help in making my choice. What would you recommend? We will visit Udaipur after and then down to KerALA.

Thanks in advice for your help/tips/guidance/suggestions

Dont go to Pushkar, despite it (apparently) being a very holy city, the apparent holy men try and rip you off by performing a kind of voluntary religous scam on tourists and then request payment and they get very annoyed if you dont part with your money. Jaisalmer is the much better option.

I agree!! Jaisalmer is a much better option, which has very much preserved its culture and heritage

Cheers and have a nice time

I agree. Pushkar was nice, but the sand castle in Jaisalmer is something to see. Plus you get the to see the desert, and scarily, drive by where India keeps some of her nukes, all on the best road in India (its kept nice so that the military can get to the Pakistani border quickly).

You must be out of your mind to be visiting Rajasthan in May! Concentrate on Kerala. That said, Jaisalmer is definitely a far better option.

Not sure if you've already gone, but if not, keep this info in mind if staying in Jaisalmer!

There's been alot of controversy over whether to stay or not stay in the Fort. It's eroding from increased water usage and tourists are contributing to the problem. I'm trying to raise awareness about the situation so tourists can get involved.

Check out this link, it shows the different viewpoints so readers can have more info about this important question and get involved to help out!
