Landed from Shanghai on 15th of May, left round about 13 August if I recall correctly. From memory, we were in each country for the folllowing durations:

Italy-> 2 weeks
Slovenia-> 1 week
Austria-> 2 days
Slovakia-> 1 week
Czech Republic-> 1 week
Germany-> 3 days
France-> 1 week
Denmark-> 1 week
Finland-> 1 week
Sweden-> 1 week
Norway -> 2 weeks

However with the Eurail pass, because we had unlimited travel, we spent a lot of time touring the countries. For example, we landed in Rome, then went to Naples, then up to Florence, then Cinque Terre, Milan and Sienna. Similarly, Norway we did Oslo -> Fjaerland -> Bodo -> Lofoten Islands -> Fjaerland -> Bergen -> Oslo

If you are willing to travel between cities like the above, then the Eurail could be a good option. Also if you can afford it, try and get the first class travel option as you're more likely to get a seat. The price difference between 1st and 2nd class 3 month Eurail passes was not much more than 500AUD.
