I'm going to Australia, (I'm actually Irish, I assume it's the same) I'm prescribed medication for depression. Who do most people go to for Insurance? I wonder if I would be covered at all?

This is always a trickier question than it seems :) In some countries, insurance can be quite cheap compared to others due to tons of competition (when you know margins are around the 30%, there's room to go down in price ). World Nomads, who we've partnered with here on TP, seem to be quite good if you are after something to cover digital cameras/ipods etc., but not looking for ridiculously high coverages on bagage (so don't be travelling with 10 000 EUR worth of baggage). Then again, they probably have lower coverages for health and so forth, but since their insurance is aimed at folks in the prime of their years so to speak, that's not really a worry for most of those buying. I know a few friends and family that have bought the WN one for example, but for me it's never worked out (since most trips have been for less than 3 months and I can get a better insurance for cheaper for that kind of trip).

It's the kind of question I'm always hesitant advising on too since it comes down to personal preferences and risk adversement. There's been hundreds of posts about it in the past here on the forums, which this search will bring up. I think you'll find some good advice there based on what others have/haven't bought.

Hope that helps a little :)

I bought the WN police for my Antarctic trip coming next month.

why?
1.Medical Expenses & Emegency Evacuation US $ 300 000 (mandatory for the trip)
2.the cover most of the activitys backpackers do (older Travellers sometimes to)
3.worlwide,you can extend the policy online

paid for 5 weeks US$ 69.00

Hopefully I dont need it;)
