Hi this is my first post. Me and a friend of mine are in the first stages of planning to traveling to america, we are hoping to start in California , then work our way down towards mexico not sure about driving ( as not sure of how insurance and other stuff work out.) After mexico (cancun) making are way to the bahamas either jamacia or one of the islands. Then travel up east coast to New York via Miami and Florida, hopefully arriving in New York for christmas, after New York wanting to go to Niagra Falls and finally come home. We are planning to make the trip last from 6-12 months if allowed (visas etc) This isnt going to be a years holiday goin to be some work involved, My friend is a plumber and i am a carpenter, but we dont mind doing any sort of work

There are a few things i wish to learn-

1- Visa's
2- Obtaining a vehicle with regards to insurance and driving in america
3- Accomodation - The best places to stay
4- An idea of the amount of money i would need to take.
5- Finding work etc.

I hope there is some one out there who can help me as this would be a trip of a life time

Many Thanks

You don't say where you're from, but it's effectively impossible for pretty much anyone to get a work visa for the USA. (They don't want you, and they go out of their way to make that clear.) :/
Maybe there's some exception that'd apply to you (I know Australians recently got a break where there's some limited amount of working holiday like visas available), and I think there might be some schemes through BUNAC, but basically, expect things to be really tough. (Australia/New Zealand/Europe/Canada are all much, much easier.)
