i am planning on going on my round the world trip in april for roughly 16 months. I was thinkin of buying a one way to oz stopping of in asia for 3 months and then buying ticket in oz for the rest of my trip. after reading some of the posts i am wondering if it is possible to enter oz with work visa without having a return ticket? also does anyone have any opinions on this plan??

Yes, you can enter on a WHV without a ticket out of the country. The working holiday visa requirements say "You should also have a return or onward ticket or the funds for a fare to depart Australia." (emphasis mine)
I have done this myself (when entering the country, I had absolutely no idea when I'd leave again, let alone where I'd go next), and it was no problem whatsoever.
(As a general note to other readers, this applies only to the working holiday visa; on a regular tourist visa you almost certainly do need the outward ticket.)
