Once in awhile it helps to finish a thought, Kombizz, as it would actually make some sense then.

But it IS a complete sentence oh dear Isa !! Here, let me elaborate:

"How about working as A !?!" As in the letter A. You know dress up as the first letter of the alphabet in a foam rubber mascot suit. Going around to all the countries that use the Roman alphabet (and some that don't but never the less know what the letter A is), bringing cheer to all the children aged 9 to 94.....

katherine, have you thought about getting into advertising and becoming a stylist? this is very much along the lines of what you seem to be doing as a props artisan. we use stylists all the time to create the scene. you work alongside the photographer and basically fake any setting that needs created. you could do this job in any major city and once you have some experience under your belt go out and freelance on your own. the pay will increase with experience and you will be able to set your schedule the way you want it. you can also travel with the shoots depending on the different locations. that's my two cents! if you want to talk more about graphic design, pm me since that is what i do.

I think Kombizz is exercising his poetic licence.

Wanna Help Me Figure Out What To Do With My Life?

I think that is a brave question to ask on a forum, where most people haven't figured out what to do with their own life.

... and that includes me, so I am afraid I can't be of much assistence.

Well, Herr Bert, I suppose that could be true. I guess it always seems that everyone else has it so much more together than myself And I have gotten a few thoughtful ideas (as well as a few, shall we say, odd ones) But part of it is I just thought that others might think of things obvious to themselves that I would never have thought of (such as a stylist) so it's possible that even you (as lost as you apparently are?) may have an idea to provide

Oh silly Katherine!!! Okay, maybe some others have it together but not me! Nope - just hangin' out there in the wind like a kite in a lightning storm.

With a minor in French, you may be able to get a job as a Canadian (or Canuckistani as we like to call them). Well, more specifically a Québécois (or Quebecer as we like to call them). I hear there are job openings as most of them are fleeing the country and headed to Mexico. Something to do with being down-trodden and misunderstood... Who knew??!!

Sorry - just couldn't resist and I'll now return this thread to it's originally scheduled topic of helping you figure out what to do with your life. ;)

OK an attempt to a more serious answer then:

Someone learned me that there are three questions to almost everything:

1. What do you have.
2. What do you need.
3. How are you gonna get what you want.

@1: What do you have? Are you happy doing what you do? Are you happy in Ireland? etc. etc. To know what you have, can justify to burn the bridges behind you, and it can even make you decide to burn the bridge your walking on. So this question is about, what you have, but even more about, what you are willing to throw away.

@2: For you, that might mean: Do you need to return to the US or not? Do you need a job you like? Do you need to settle down? But it also imposes the question: What don't you need? (and remember to need is different than to want, you can want a big house, but you don't need it)

@3: make your plans according to the answers given to the questions in 1 and 2.

oh katherine, i still don't know what i want to be when i grow up! i'm constantly trying to figure out what i want to be and do besides a traveller! and those people who seem to have it all together, well, you never know, they may be secretly craving your life in ireland. besides, in the end, we all just want to be happy, so work towards that.

Now, you say you're a creative person, so here's another option that doesn't take too much schooling and can be profitable: production artist. this is sort of a graphic designer, but you don't work on the idea side of things. basically you work on the production/implementation end of the design process...computer graphics. you don't need to draw at all. you need to know your equipment/programs, be detailed oriented, accurate and fast. and you can always move into the creative side of things if you want to. i'll try and think of something non-design oriented next time! good luck exploring your options.
