I wouldnt bother booking anything up in advance. Turn up and get a room. I stayed at the D&D and I thought I wasnt great. It gets noisy at night. Ask for a room thats not on the street. I paid 500baht a night, but there are so many places to stay. If you do arrive late just grab a room anywhere and pay a little extra and let the budget start the next day when you have alot more time to look around and get prices. Ava good one.
I agree totally with Sean! I won't repeat what he said as I think he said it perfectly
to book or not to book? i'm wondering myself. i've actually never booked ahead and usually it has turned out pretty well for me but i'm heading to bangkok on the 23rd of feb flying with Air AsiaX. MY flight doesn't get in till 9pm and i've been told that baggage collection is quite slow with air asia so i don't think i'll be out of the airport till 10pm at the earliest. i was then planning to take a bus (there is a bus? yes?) To khoa san road and find a cheap (but not too loud or gross) place to sleep. the thing is if i don't arrive until say 11pm will there still be someone on the desk to check me in?? and if i prebook a budget/midrange place are they going to keep my place or assume i'm not comming?? does anyone know if most/many/any places in that area have 24 hr reception?? also is high season still in full swing at the end of feb or will there be heaps of vacancies and thus places to choose from?
