Hi Rachel,
I personally think the best time to visit Down Under (Gold coast) is just after summer. It's a bit calmer, the weather is fantastic all year round but in March/April is awesome!
In Summer, you get lots and lots of tourist and there's hardly any hotels or hostels available unless you make a reservation in advance, lots in advance.
The night life there is great all the time but what you find in summer is that lot's of teenagers head that way for weeks at the time. All that said, depends of what fun you are after, if it is party life, non-stop, you should go there in Summer, if it is a relaxing and party but non-hectic, go there after summer.
There's plenty to do and visit all year round. What I did found was that the prices go a bit higher during the peak season.

I lived there for 4 years and those where the bests years of my life.

Good luck and I hope you have a great stay in this wonderful place.

Bella

I agree with hayanna.

But September / October is also a good time. A lot of people from United Arab Emirates visit in July to escape the heat of their own country.

So it all depends. I guess anytime rather than the rainy season is good.

Just note though that a lot of people in Australia consider the Gold Coast crass and cheezy.

Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast, an hour or two north of Brisbane is much better than the Gold Coast.

the gold coast is great in summer, beautiful weather and the like. however it appears that half the country also think the same way and so it is always really busy. the prices for most things also seem to rise because it is the peak season. if u want 2 go to theme parks, something the area is famous for, then be prepared to queue for ages.
however the beaches like all australian beaches r beautiful, so i would suggest going during the warmer months just to take advantage of this,

good luck
cheers

One of the main parts of the Gold Coast is Surfers Paradise
This could be part of the reason why people flock there for holidays.

For you surfers out there, the surf in "surfers paradise" is pretty poor. The beach is a good number of kilometres long and faces directly out to see, so there's no nice little breaks from any headlands or anything.

Having said that, a bit of a way south at Rainbow Bay and nearby there are some excellent breaks.
