Does anyone know a travel company or website in China that offers cheap flights and service in English? I am heading to China to backpack around for 3 months. I arrive in Beijing and then pick up a few domestic flights and make my way to Harbin, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guilin, Dali, Kunming, etc. Help appreciated. I have traveled other places in South East Asia, but heard China is a challenge. Advice on booking flights and hotels would be appreciated. Thanks
Try over here
By the way, the challenge is not that big. Most hostels/hotels have small tourist desks where you can buy tickets for planes and trains etc.
O, and try to avoid flying to HK directly, way too expensive. Better to fly into Shenzhen or Guangzhou and take a bus/train from there!
If you're staying at a small place without a booking desk, China International Travel Service always have an English speaking person, and are, in my experience, pretty helpful for booking domestic flights. Make sure it's the official place though, companies like to advertise themselves as 'China Travel Service International' and suchlike, and buying a duff ticket is a risk. Buying directly from the airline desk at the airport is also possible, but they don't always have English speaking staff.
Hi, do try this: #1 www.attitudetravel.com #2 www.tigerairways.com #3 www.airasia.com
have fun there.
I also look for cheap airfare and have found
you can book and pay by creditcard - best prices about 3 to four weeks in advance.
depending from relation
the best places to buy tickets in a city is to find the local CAAC (Civil Aviation Authority of China) office. These places can print and book any domestic ticket on the spot. The down side there will almost never be an English speaker at a CAAC office. Make sure to bring the dates and the names (in characters) of the chinese cities you want to travel too by plane. If you want to do some planing for your flights you can also buy your plane tickets from these two websites.
www.elong.net or www.ctrip.com
I have used both websites many times and they are good. Most of the time all the places will have the same price but sometimes on international flights the prices can be very different. In a pinch if you are travel during the low season you can buy most tickets at the airport. Some train stations in major east cost cities will have airplane ticket vendors too.
When I arrived in China, my brother told me to use Ctrip.com. I have used them a number of times to book hotels and flights. The website is pretty user friendly and you can pay online with foreign cards. The call service is also pretty good. They speak English and offer the best prices that I've seen.
