Can someone please tell me when arriving in Puerto Natales do many places arrange trips/small cheap group tours to Torres Del Paine? What sort of price would the cheaper tours (that are not run by a world wide tour company and last more than a day) cost?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

They do, and theyre pretty good price I seem to remember. Every hostel in Peurto Natales will offer you these trips and the second you get off the bus (from Punta Arenas presumaby?) youll be mobbed by people trying to sell you accomodation and trips.

We got a combined trip from Natales to El Calafate, with 2 nights accomodation, a trip to the glacier, the return trip to Natales and a day trip to Torres del Paine for about €60 or so.

That part of Chile is more expensive than the rest, but tours and transport are very affordable.

Really don't remember prices (was there in 2001, so price have risen since then anyway) but loads of places arrange trips from Puerto Natales to TDP and beyond, even daytrips are possible.
So if you turn up one day you will be able to leave the next day or the day after. But that's not a problem, you can always fit in an extra daytrip to some glaciers nearby, like the Balmaceda Glacier.

Go to Erratic Rock I as he gives unbiased advice on the w circuit and i´m sure would also be very helpful with giving you advice on a shorter trip to TDP.

The advice he gives is all unbiased and the guy´s really nice. The hostels not too bad either if you´re looking for somewhere to stay.

They have an erratic rock II for couples also if you´re that way inclined :)
