I will be going to Vietnam and Cambodia in three weeks time.
I have had to have a three in one shot of Tetenus, Diptheria and Polio and a seperateTyphoid jab.
You will also need malaria tablets, I will be travelling for three weeks so need to start tablets two days before we travel and for a month after we come back.
This hopefully prevents the parasite mutating in the blood, and is very important to take correctly, after all it only takes one bite to give you serious problems for a long time.

In addition to the above I would recommend Hepatitis A vaccine , if you have not received it before.

I would probably not get Japanese encephalitis vaccine-- the risk is quite low, for most typical backpacker trips-- If you were staying in the area long term, or had uncommon exposure- like working in a village for prolonged time.. that would be different.....

We were told by our Travel clinic that it was only given to people that were going to be in the country a long time, months rather than weeks. e.g. people working in the country - volunteers etc.

Yes, sorry you will need a Hep A jab too, I forgot that one because I had one previously which covers you for 10 years. I also have had Hep B jabs up to date which will further protect me, but these were through my job.

Thanks for the info :)

So, looks like we are fine with the injections as we had all of the ones mentioned last year , so we just have to get the malaria tablets then.

We will be going for 8 weeks so maybe we don't need the other one.
