Hello there,
I'm new to the site and looking for help in a couple of areas.

A few of us are planning a trip which entails the following:

Shipping our motorbikes from Australia to Singapore

Flying ourselves to Singapore to collect the bikes

Riding through Malaysia to Thailand for the Phuket Bike Week

Touring parts of Thailand and Malaysia on our way back to Singapore

Shipping the bikes back to Australia.

So far we have organised the following:

Passports of course
Carnets for the bikes
Freight from Australia and return
Shipping agent in Singapore and Australia
Shop to deliver the bikes to in Singapore
Certified australian vehicle registration papers
International driving permit.....

I would like some advice on:

Entry requirements for the 3 countries
Insurance requirements for all 3 countries
Any useful official contacts to satisfy entry and riding in the country requirements
Anything that you feel would be useful to complete this trip safely

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this lengthy post....

Following posts will be shorter, I promise...

I have read about these guys who did a Golden Triangle motorcycle adventure. I would contact them and see if they can answer your questions. Good Luck.

Try the Thai Visa web site - motoring forum....those countries seem relatively straightforward compared to Cambodia/Vietnam for example.
In theory the ASEAN treaty allows for motor vehicles to travel between member countries...but this is far from a reality.

BTW - you're not allowed tinted windows in Malaysia!?!?!?!

Thanks for that as well
I'll have a look there.

The tinted windows issue shouldn't be much of a problem on the Harley

Thanks for the replies
Have a lot more info now to work with
Still trying to find the insurance requirements for each country

Does anyone know if there is a minimum required in the way of 3rd party or comprehensive accident insurance required for your own vehicle in these countries??
