I got back from Budapest last week - it's a beautiful city with loads to do but it was absolutely freezing so make sure you take themals, hat and scarf etc. Having said that, I have just looked at the temperatures and it does seem to be a little warmer than when i was there.

Fisherman's bastion, the castle area, the Parliament and St Stephen's baslica are all worth seeing. The Chain Bridge is beautiful at night especailly when viewed from high up near the castle area. the best way to get up to Fishermans' bastion and the surrounding area is using the funicular railway to take you up to the top.

the thermal baths are worth a visit - we went to the Gellert baths which I think are the oldest and most famous.

The attractions are quite spread out so you probably will end up using the publc transport at some point -it's regualr and cheap (bus, tram and underground).

I used to live there, LOVE the city. Get to the Communist Park, You can touch Karl Marx.

The city is amazing at night. Walk around with some local beers and enjoy the sites.

Everything bex76 said is on point. Theres a great local food market that you should see. Its a huge building with red and green tiles. Across from a burger King at the east end of the main tourist street. on the foot of one of the bridges. Its a two storey food market, i love it.
