Hey..

Sorry to bore you with money questions again.. but need a little help trying to work out our budget!!

Me & the boyfriend plan to start our trip oct/nov ( depending on the money we've managed to save!) We'd like to be away for ten ish months & the vague itinerary is below..

India - 3 months
S E Asia - 2 months
New Zealand - 2 weeks (staying with mates in in auckland)
South America - 4 months
Mexico - 2 weeks

This is isn't our first trip we've both been to S E Asia & New Zealand & I've been to India.. so I think I can budget pretty well for them, its just south america really... but an overall budget idea would be great, I've looked into flights and its definitely gonna be like £1000+

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks, em

It would depend on which areas in South America you plan on visiting, how much actual travel that you need to pay extra for you want to do etc. I was averaging around 30US a day but if you tried you could get by on less, but then again you could spend a lot more if you planned on doing anything major like a tourist aimed activities in Patagonia area of South America. Mexico is much the same but again this would depend on which areas you plan on visiting.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Depending on time constraints.. we don't wanna have to rush around trying to see everything the following are a definite..

Venezuela
Colombia
Equador
Bolivia
Argentina
Chile & Brazil

I'm not into doing really touristy things, we'd really like to do as much on our own as we can, without going on tours etc.. I know this is impossible with excursions like Machu picchu & the amazon but we will be limiting these.

What would your recommendations be??
