I think the forum is a good place for people to get started interacting with TP, new users don't necessarily know where to go to find information that's already available (including myself, I still consider myself a relative beginner).

Instead of replying with a specific answer to the question, maybe it would be a good idea to use the opportunity to help the user to learn how they can use what's already out there to answer the question? I see we have a Url option in the Forum also, so you could explain to the user how to check the xyz section (and include a link to it), maybe that woud be even better than an answer? If you want the user to feel warm and fuzzy, even without a personalized answer, suggest they check the link, then come back to the forum if they still have questions.

Sorry, I didn't get enough sleep last night to type in English. Recap - post the instructions (where to find the answer) and a link instead of answering the question?

Just a thought, use it as a PR opportunity?

One thing I'm wondering about if if it is clear enough how incredibly good the search function is for the forums? I mean, you can drill it down by users who have posted, specific forums, time variables etc. Perhaps we need to make the 'advanced search' more clear? Or perhaps the search box on each page needs to be clearer? I know that tons of answers can be found using the existing search :) Then again, if you just ended up here after doing a search on google, will you start searching this site for answers when you know there's a pretty good chance you'll get an answer to your question if you just post it?
