Fly to Brussels
Rock Werchter Festival, Belguim
Paris, France (interail starts)
Zurich, Switzerland
Venice, Italy
Rome, Italy
Bari, Italy > Ferry Crossing > Patras, Greece
Athens, Greece
Istanbul, Turkey
Bucharest, Romania
Budapest, Hungary

Fly Home...

What does everyone think? Any reccomendations and advice are welcome :) I can't wait to go back to Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Munich, the rest I've never been too! (well I was in Paris when I was 5 don't remember much of it)

What is everyone else doing?

Sounds good!

but ur missing out alot in between the big cities - for example - why Bucharest? when you leave out all of Transylvania? Same in Italy, the smaller towns and villages are well worth the stop.

Well I really want to see the smallers places everywhere I go, but there ain't enough time really! I didn't include all the stuff I wanted to do in between the cities, I want to go to a few places in Greece, like the Corinth Canal, definately want to go to Translyvania though, so I'm going to have to reconsider the 30 day rail pass then :)

Istanbul is amazing, i wouldnt schedule very long in Rome as i found it was quite boring (but maybe thats just me), i'd agree tho you are missing a fair few big places on the way but the trips your own. if you come by cyprus, i maybe working in the paphoa area and able to help with accommodation and transport links

wow, big trip! congrats! I am obsessing about my trip to Italy and Greece this summer. Have all but one hostel booked already, lol. I know, not very backpackery of me but I like to research each place carefully and then book early to make sure I get it. I start in Venice and my birthday happens there so I spent extra on a hotel near San Marco Square to make it special. I based my plans more on the party scene than history (did that last trip to Italy). So, then it's Rimini for the beach party, Florence for the beauty, Cinque Terre for the uniqueness/romance, Rome, Athens and Mykonos for the big blowout to finish. I arranged the timing of my trip to coincide with the July Full Moon party in Mykonos Paradise Beach Resort where I have reserved a cabin on the beach. I'm planning to travel like I'm half my age (44 by then) because I didn't do it when I was actually 22

To Do list for my vacation:

1. Talk to everyone I can and meet lots of interesting people
2. Try new food and don't worry about dieting
3. Meet lots of hot italian and greek guys
4. Try ouzo and maybe absinth and anything else that I wouldn't normally try (within common sense for safety)
5. Take more pictures than I usually do, especially of me with people I meet, not scenery and boring buildings
6. Not listen so much to the voice in my head that's much too cautious to allow fun adventures
7. Do something without planning it first, every day
8. Get lost in every city for at least an hour

That sounds like a good trip. Hope all goes well for ya!

I'll be there from April to mid August. One problem is that my family will be vacationing in Jamaica in July and want me to be there so I'll probably have to interrupt my trip, go to Jamaica, then fly back to finish off lol. So with this happening I don't really have an itinerary, just a list of places to see. I do know that I will be running with the bulls in Pamplona (July 7-14).
