and i agree on the way some sites go quiet sometimes and then they boom for ages
they all do it
mines been very quiet over christmas for unknown reasons, i know for a fact that most of the members were at home rather than out doing the things they normally do, but still very little on the posting side of things
sometimes people just get peeved with posting and take a break
and if there are arguments on the site, people will get peeved and avoid it for a few days
admin cant do anything about that, its all down to the members
as i always say to my members
they are the ones that make the site what it is
that way they take a more acitive role and try to mould it in their idea of what a site should be
it always creates discussion and sometimes arguments, we just have to be there to clean up the mess

What is your site about Sradwxi?
Just asking out of nosiness.:)

Yeah, I certainly see the points u made in the last 2 posts on this thread are true. It sounds exactly like what happens here. Oh well, maybe that is just how things have to be. Some things people say or do are just undesirable because the majority rules thing is what has to be for the good of the site.
Life is lonely when one is an individual with contraversial things to say. Now where is that frowning thread so I can go whinge about it. :(

i know how u feel, i have to contain myself so much, but in my site i do get to speak about a lot of controversial stuff, even tho its not even related
its a localised motorbike site
www.merseysidebikers.com
i approve all the registrations so sometimes it takes a few hours to be accepted

There is no 'master unsubscribe', but I am pretty sure that if you switch off email notification in your message center, you stop getting all emails from TP (80% sure, not 100!)....

No - tried that and it didn't work. I haven't even retyped my e-mail address in my profile, come to think of it...

Hmmm, I'm double checking with Peter if this is actually the correct way to handle it or not. On the one hand using this function as a 'master unsubscribe' would be nice, but on the other it might be more confusing than beneficial for new members ("thought I subscribed to that thread but why am I not getting any notifications" etc.).... there's always the option to change your email address to one you hardly check while travelling - not ideal, I know!

Okay, checked and this is indeed intended. I'll keep it in mind for the future, but don't think it's going to be high up the to do list Tina; sorry

No worries, Sam. Thanks for looking into it. It's my own fault for needing to be in the know! If I could only not check the "subscribe" box...must...not...check...
