I will be in New York in April and will be arriving at JFK Airport about 8:30 p.m. I was told that I could take the airport bus to Port Authority and the whole trip will take about 1 hour 15 minutes and then take a cab from Port Authority to Times Square. I am wondering iif it is easy for me to get a cab at the Port Authority after 10 p.m. and isn't safe for a single girl. I am staying at the hostel in Times Square. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Port Authority Bus Terminal is in times square, west 42nd street and 8th ave. Also, NYC taxis have a flat rate from JFK to anywhere in Manhattan, $45.00 US. plus gratuity. Your safest bet is the taxi. I live here. Any more questions, just ask.

thank you for your information. Is it far to walk from Port Authority to 7th Avenue and 45 Avenue (ie where the hostel is). If it is far I will definitely take a cab. thanks

It's only a few blocks away from the bus terminal.

here's a map of it, see the bus terminal on the far left bottom corner.,0,6869184754675770801&near=New+York,+NY&oi=manybox&ct=10&cd=1&resnum=1
