I am wondering if anyone knows or has taken a train from butterworth to surat thani. Was it a direct train ride or did you have to make stops and get off and onto other trains? Most of them seem to get in quite late missing the last ferry to ko samui. Is this correct?
I'd really appreciate your help with this. I am feeling alittle apprehensive about this leg of my journey!
I never take train from Butterworth before. I took train from KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok and I need to change train at Hatyai. I am not so sure if you need to change train if you take train from Butterworth. No worries, when you board the train, just ask a Thai officers who will walk around to check your ticket. You can check this website: State Railway of Thailand
You will reach Surat Thani at night. Around 11:30pm.
Thats a really great website!!!
Yes, it's a direct train ride. You leave around 2pm from Butterworth and arrive Surat Thani somewhere in the wee hours of the morning. I usually head on straight to Bangkok on that train;but from my sleeper bunk I can hear the travellers getting off to Surat Thani-so it must be sometime after midnight.
By mid-day the next day; the train would safely arrive to Hua Lum Phong Station, Bangkok!
