I've been scratching my head doing this.. from USA back to Europe.. (my friend is so sceptical about applying a US visa plus the visa is not cheap USD131, so europe is the best solution). ok, here is my itinerary.
Spring trip - April 2008
Dublin - will be staying with friend - 2 nites
Edinburgh - Budget Backpackers - 2 nites
Glasgow - Blue Sky Hostel - 2 nites
Liverpool (i promised a friend to take loads of Anfield photo) - dont know where to stay, accomodation is very limited in here - 2 nites
London - havent decided where to stay - 4 nites
Budapest - Central Backpack King - 2 nites
Please advise if you have some ideas or suggestions.
The YHA is about the most central and cheap accommodation your going to find. There are a few others but alot of them i would recommend staying away from. A few of the B&B hotels are quite cheap. Have a look at the YHA Liverpool, and if you get nothing give me a shout and i will help you the best i can. Another option if your struggling would be find somewhere to stay in manchester and get the train to liverpool during the day. There more accommodation options in manchester that are probably alot cheaper too.
Thank you hobo, i will try that later. I noticed that the accomodation in Liverpool is not cheap. it burns out our wallet very fast. let's see what we can come out with.
Do you think it's worth going to Loch ness while im in scotland? i've looked through the website for tour to Loch ness, but it is 520km away from Edinburgh! i thought i can do it within a day.

Just curious, what was the reason for your choice of Budapest? It just seems strange after visiting all of those cities in UK/Ireland.
I've been to few other countries in Europe 3 years ago but missed out budapest and prague (although it was in our list) due to time and $$ Was thinking of going to Stockholm or Oslo this year, but it is expensive.
so, this time around, i think should fulfil my dream
Loch Ness isn't quite 520 KM away from Edinburgh, I think that's the distance there and back! I know that you can go on daytrip/tours to Loch Ness and the Highlands from Glasgow which are relatively reasonable in terms of price (usually about £30). It usually incorporates other destinations rather than just going to Loch Ness, so it would go something like Glasgow - Fort William - Loch Ness - Inverness - Pitlochry - Stirling - Glasgow. That can be done in a day if the tour leaves early in the morning and gets back about 8 or 9 at night and if the weather is nice it would be a good tour through the Highland scenery.
