Travel Forums Introductions needing inspiration

Hi, I just signed on to this site today and have enjoyed reading everyones passions for travelling. I have always enjoyed travelling, but come from a relatively poor family. My parents are now insisting that I settle down. They have not paid for any of my travels since I was in high school, but believe I am just not wanting to grow up because I want to work for a while and then spend that money on travelling rather than buying a house or other "grown-up" things.
I'm just wondering if other people have faced obstacles in their travels and how they over come them. How do you get the money to travel as much as possible?
In general about myself. I'm working for a political candidate until March in the US. I have travelled to 40 states in the U.S. including Hawaii. I've been to Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Argentina, and my favorite Brazil!!!
There are way too many places for me yet to travel. I want to go to Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Italy, and more of Latin America. I look forward to hearing from other travel spirited people!:)

Hi Drea,

First of all Hi! And sod what other people say or expect of you, it's your life and you should do what makes you happy. Travelling certainly makes me happy, and I'd much rather spend my money on memories than on a new car etc.

I have a very unconventional job, which allows me to just "bugger off" as and when I feel like it.

You're in your 20's, so enjoy it! there's time for mortgages when you're old and grey - better to regret something you have done than something you haven't.
J :)

Hi Drea and welcome!!!

I agree with Janinec wholeheartedly (sp?)! Travelling is fun! Sure, you need to work to make money to do it (unfortunately....) but when you get out there, meet new people and experience things others only dream about, that makes it all the more worth it!

Definitely still plenty of time left to worry about settling down at a later stage. Actually, I hope I never settle down, but my fiancee thinks differently (luckily just a little )....

Look forward to seeing you around more!
