No, it is not possible to visit the Pantanal in one day. It's a waste of money and effort anyhow. Pantanal is huge.
What is the place where you are staying and want to visit the Pantanal in one day?
It's hours away from Cuiaba or Campo Grande and although you can catch public transport especially in the southern Pantanal to somewhere halfway between Campo Grande and Corumba (at the Bolivian border), you will be in a smaller town from where you can a day trip into the Pantanal. But actually that just takes more time than arranging the a 3 day tour from CG.

Anyway, I decided to go to the Pantanal and surrouding area later this year for about 10 days to two weeks or something....all depending on how fast we can get a tour after arriving in Cuiaba and/or Campo Grande. There is a northern Pantanal and southern Pantanal, not really connected by (good) roads and although you can see several of the same animals in both areas, there are differences as well, in that in the south there are several places (fazendas, lodges etc.) where at night it is possible to spot cats like jaguar, puma and ocelot.

Pantanal is ment for animal enthusiasts, as the best place in the americas to see lots of wildlife and as a nice alternative to the better known animals in Africa. Just a pity to visit for a few days only.

Cheers! Michael
