Hey everyone
I was thinking of going to see a boxing match, Joe Calzaghe v Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas on April the 19th, being from, the UK.
I was wondering if the flight prices will go up due to this match, (if your notinto boxing its a pretty big fight) and really just needed advice tbh to travel there.
The fight was annouced a few days ago and before i buy tickets, i wanted to know if the flights would become more expenseive, i could only afford the flight in march! does anyone know how much an average price for hotels would be over there at this time, and general help with this, i am a nebie traveller!
Thanks alot!
:)

Ollie,
The hotels here practice what is called: 'profit maximization'. In other words, they charge the most the traffic will bear for that date. Rooms are usually cheaper during the week than weekends. During the recent CES convention, hotels more than doubled their daily rates for while CES was here. Then back to the standard rate. If this fight sells out the town, then they will adjust their room rates upwards as they fill up. Your best bet is to stay off the Strip. Say Sam's Town, Boulder Station or Arizona Charlie's. Or downtown. A hotel that will not be affected by the fight crowd. I did a quick search and got the following:

Sam's Town: Friday = $166, Sat = $166 & Sun = $55.
Boulder Station: Friday=$90, Sat =$90, Sun=$30.
Arizona Charlie's: Friday=$90, Sat=$90, Sun=$32.
El Cortez: Friday=$58, Sat=$58, Sun=$34.
Fiztgerald's:Friday=$90, Sat=$90, Sun=$50.

I don't know anything about flights coming over for the fight. I'm sure there will be package deals: Flight, ticket, room. Good Luck.

Weekend rates are much higher in Vegas. I would recommend Circus Circus, you will be on the strip, it is cheaper than other hotels, but you have everything there, e.g. pool, gambling, funfair, buffets etc.
The bus can take you up the strip for £1.50, we use to get bus one way and walk back.
If you are off strip you would waste money on taxis which could have gone towards your room.
Look on CircusCircus.com website.
I would recommend a room in the main tower with a strip view.
