guiny has indicated that this thread is about Netherlands

Hello! We are going on a trip and we are not sure if we should include Sluis in our itinerary. Is it worth a visit? Is it an expensive place? What can we do there?
I am open to ideas and suggestions.
Thanks!

Here's a map of the location of the village and municipalty of Sluis in the Dutch province of Zeeland. As you can see from the map, Sluis is absolutely tiny. Sorry to disappoint you, but I really have no idea what to do there other than eat at Restaurant Oud Sluis (awarded 3 Michelin stars) and visit the nature reserve 't Zwin. The Belgian cities of Brugge and Knokke are very near.

Hi Audry,

I don't know what your interests are to visit Sluis, but, apart from having the best restaurant in the Netherlands,
http://www.oudsluis.nl/ (3 Michelin stars, reservations required long before you plan to visit, and very, very expensive)
there is not much to view, see or experience in Sluis. The place is on the Belgium border, and therefor it attracts people from Belgium to come and do some (fun) shopping. Because we are now a days more or less one united Europe there are no borders anymore and prices on both sides of the "border" are about the same; it is much quieter than in the old days.
If your trip brings you in the area, there are many places to visit with much more interesting things to see.
On the Belgium side of the border there is Brugge, and on the Dutch side there is Middelburg, Veere and Zierikzee, all of them fully stuffed with historic buildings. World famous are our waterworks to protect the people who live here (below sealevel) There are very intersesting places to visit and good exhibitions who attract visitors from all over the world. (see some photo's from me in my Netherlands album.
If you're intend to plan visiting one or more of the places, don't hesitate to ask me for more info. (I live in Middelburg)

Wow, never would have thought that such a question would be asked here.
Although Sluis is a lot smaller than places like Bruge, Ghent and further away Antwerp, it could make for a nice sidetrip to visit some smaller places.
I myself was born in that part of the Netherlands, called Zeeuws Vlaanderen, but more to the east, the small city of Hulst, which is of course much more beautiful. ;)
Click on the 'international info' icon (second from the left).

Cheers!
