Has anyone ever brought back Vietnam Dong to the UK and found a place to change it into pounds?
I have around 2,500,000VND which I have had it sitting around for months and wana change it up.
I could'nt even find a place in Thailand that would except it.
Thanks for any info
as far as i know you can't change dong outside vietnam at all. The only thing you can probably do is find someone who is going to be visiting Vietnam and swap it with them.
In London and a few others, there are Asian food stores/travel specialists for Vietnamese etc, who will often change it (not on great rates, but better than nothing), and some Vietnamese restaurants will also do it. (((It's generally more an ad hoc thing than normal service because staff/family/friends are travelling back and fore))).
In addition, a number of places in Central London will take them - they take virtually anything - but often at very poor rates, and only in major tourist places. There's one in Covent Garden that seems to accept virtually anything, for example, though don't get disheartened if the first few places you try don't want it. Heathrow would be an outside possibility as well.
Failing that, put a message on the LP Thorntree on both UK & SEA Branches (and put a note here on the SEA forum), saying where you are and seeing if somebody wants to do a swap. It is a common destination, so you should be able to find somebody going that way fairly easily.
I was in Covent garden last night, dam! But there is a kinda Vietnamese restaurant I know near work, so I might see if they can help.
Thanks for the advice.
