BUT...honestly, do u find it easy coping without our beauty essentials...straighteners and hairdryer etc? i know sounds stupid but just wondered, as im a girly girl!

I'm not girly at home, so being without my beauty products isn't much of a change. I don't even have a hair dryer or straightener at home, so I can't really miss them..

I don't travel without a hairdryer. I bought one of those travel ones - super compact and lightweight with a converter. I hate the feeling of damp hair; I can wear the same jeans for a week in a row when travelling, but I just ave to dry my hair...

If you really use it every day at home, pack it - if not leave it. There are small, travel-sized hairdryers and straighteners available for those who can't do without them, you just have to look around a bit to find them. Drugstores are a good source for this.

Hello Charlotte:)

I dont use hairdriers or makeup(well occasionally when I go out at night I use a very small amount but dont use any while travelling).
I just have long hair which I wear in a simple braid or ponytail down the back.
The only beauty products I need at home and travelling are a razor, eyebrow tweezers, suncream and shampoo.
Well I do dye my hair to make it a nicer colour than its natural colour but I dont usually need to do that while travelling. I do it before I go. But even if I took some hair colour with me it would be no big deal because it is a small box of amonia free hairdye and 1 box would last me 3 months. :)

I think my girlfriend is going to have a big shock when she realises she has to carry everything that she has packed.......

Accidentally leaving the make-up and travel blow-dryer at home once taught me a good lesson. I really didn't need them and honestly didn't miss them while away. Like Tway, I do have a compact travel blowdryer. If I know I will definitely need a bit of make-up (business trip type travel), I take just the basics of wet/dry eyeliner, mascara and blush. (The eyeliner is in powder form that can be moistened to use as an eyeliner and dry as an eyeshadow.) About the only thing I can't live without are my glasses. Everything else I don't need or can buy small quantities of while away.

Up until this year l packed for all eventualities but since back packing around Vietnam l realised l really didnt need half the crap l took.

Im a real girly girl too - l like the finer things - l do spa days, lm in the beauticians at least once a fortnight and hair dressers monthly for cuts and colours and more so just for blow dries!! But l coped!

I took a travel hairdryer which l did use, and l took my GHDs which l didnt use to be honest!! As for the makeup bag - it sat in my rucksac for almost a month and didnt get used.

Pack your hairdryer - you can pick a decent one up in Boots the Chemist for around £14.99. I actually felt really liberated not putting on makeup for a month! Yet as soon as l got home it was back to the slap and regime as if l hadnt left it!!

I could travel for a couple of days and pack everything l possess just in case yet l can travel for a month with the bare essentials - go fig!! Most countries will be able to sell you make up etc if you really really need some! But really all you need is a small tin of vasline which is a great lip gloss and also soothes chapped or sunburnt lips too!
