Why not get your eyelashes tinted and permed (curled) before you leave? That's what I intend to do. It usually lasts about 2 months and it is only about $20.

I don't know about you, but if I feel so much more "finished" if I have mascara on. I figure I will be able to last through my travels with only my sunscreen enhanced mineral foundation with my eyelashes done, so that cuts down signifigantly.

And I intend to bring a travel hairdryer, I hate wet hair. They are only about a pound anyways so I am sure I can handle carrying that

I have no intention to live without them!

At home I wear make up every day (the full works but natural looking!), blow dry hair, straignten every day.. face moisturiser, body moisturiser, tan moisuriser, face wipes.. you get the idea.. I use a lot of products!!!

Originally I had thought about just leaving it ALL at home when I start travelling in June but I just can't! Now don't get me wrong I am not going to take EVERYTHING.. I will just take my straighteners, limited make up, one moisturiser and that's about it.

Everyone keeps telling me I'll just want to live 'au naturale' when I am travelling and 'a tan always makes you look good' .. I probably will during the day but I just keep thinking.. what about when I want to go to a nice bar in the evening in a city for example.. I just can't bear to go with frizzy slightly kinky but not quite curly hair and no make up.

I think the answer is that if you are going to miss something so much then just take it.. who cares ..You're the one that will have to carry it?? ;) This is what my boyfriend keeps reminding me everytime I just add one more thing to my list anyway!

Maybe I won't use my make up or straighteners but I'd rather have them and not use them than keep kicking myself that I wish I'd taken them.

Thank GOD I'm not a girly girl! But I suppose, if you are then take small containers of the things you need or sample packs. I mean really... you don't NEED all of the stuff you use... I'm more concerned whether I have enough clothes to keep warm!

I am a girly girl...I didn't wear that much make up when I was at home, but I did wear it. Now I've been travelling for almost 17 months, I brought my straighteners, travel hair dryer, make up and moisturiser. The only things I use regularly is the moisturiser and mascara.

My hair isn't straight, it's a slightly kinky, frizzy mess but I find if I straighten my hair in a hot country it only lasts an hour or so before the humidity gets to it and makes it frizz again So I have given up with the straighteners and hair dryer (although the hair dryer is handy if you are in a rush). Saying that though I still carry my straighteners and haven't got rid of them as when we were in China I got the chance to have nice hair again...and everyone reading our blog noticed too!

After a while you begin to not be as image conscious as there are so many fun things to do when you are travelling and no-one is really that dressed up. The only thing I do splash out on is highlights every 4 months or so as my natural hair colour does not suit me in the slightest, but these are pretty cheap.

So my advice...take the hair dryer and straighteners, you may need them at some point just remember you have to carry them in your rucksack (that's the promise I made to my boyf...I packed them I carry them!). Make up wise, eyeliner, mascara, vaseline, lip liner and a Nivea shine stick that I put over the lip liner to make me look a bit more 'glam'. Anything else I can bet you won't use!

This is hilarious! Keep going

What the hell is a "girly girl"? You're either a girl, or you're not. Or are you talking about high vs low maintenance?

You're just jealous, James, because your wife won't share her hair care products and make-up with you when you go on vacation.
