Hi there

What is the cheapest way to travel from Kathmandu to Lhasa in May? From Lhasa I'll take the train to Beijing. Does anyone has experience with this trip?

Thanks
Tinka

You will have to hire a jeep in Nepal that will take you on to Tibet. It is pretty easy to do and it should be easy to get people. Remember to get the right kind of visa when you enter China. If you get a group visa in Nepal you will not be allowed to go onto Beijing.

Hello Tinka,
Greetings from Nepal..

Travel to Tibet via Nepal is worth and there won't be any trouble to find the group because all the visa and permit process begin by tour agency here in Kathmandu and they do have many group travelling to Tibet on May. And the time is really nice indeed.

Similarly, when you will have visa and permit in your hand, still you can use until you arrive in Beijing for sure and if you wish to know even more on details about this confusion please try to ask once with -snip-. And the major factor of doing the trip in Tibet only avaliable by group instead of Individual because the chinese counsular here in Kathmandu don't issue the individual visa for any tourist.

And your another message showed that you like to go by cheapest way then here you go to see on below:

Tibet Visa and Travel Permit = US$ 45.00(non American Passport) Per Person
Tour Cost for 7night/8days by Land Cruiser 4WD Jeep = US$ 415.00 Per Person
So, I hope above notes are pretty helpful and please ask if you like to know more on details, thank you
Regards
