Right guys...

it appears there are all sorts arriving and leaving on various dates but I am going to suggest a definite date for Sunday March 9th if that is ok?

I'll have got into town 2 days earlier and want to catch some of you before all your epic trips...I'm staying behind in Syd til my feet start to itch!

Shane (as you are in town already!) do you have any suggestions for a decent location? Not too expensive but not too manic either I was thinking. I know Darling Harbour best but cant remember any names of bars off the top of my head (and know they aint too cheap!)

Maybe somewhere in the Rocks or somewhere with a cool view (I want to suggest the 36th floor cocktail bar at the Shangri-La but I am saving that for my 30th on March 17th!)

Anyhoo, just thought I'd get the ball rolling with tings as arrivals are not far off now are they?

Happy packing one and all.

Lucy

bungalows in darling harbour is relatively cheap ($5 schooners) but would recommend the edinburgh castle corner of pitt and bathurst st, $8 jugs up to 11pm and not crazy busy or loud so can actually hear people talk.

im Makka - aka The 'Makkattack' ... im 23 and will be arriving in Sydney on Feb 19th direct from New Zealand ... plan to stick around sydney for a couple of weeks before rolling down to Melbourne for the Grand Prix and a few other antics ... looking to stay as near to the beach as possible in Sydney, either Manly, Cogee or Bondi

as per usuall my plans have changed rather dramatically - upon landing on the 19th about 4 hours later i have a flight booked for the Gold Coast - its the start of the ASP pro world surf championships - i had planned to only head to the Bells beach event in Melbourne in march - but couldnt resist seeing the start of the 2008 season!

btw: anyone else who might be about the Gold Coast from feb 19th to march 6th shout me!

i'll be back to Cogee or Manly after the comp tho ;)

I've got a question...is it just me who is planning on staying in Sydney for longer than 2 weeks?!?!

Big travel plans will occur for me after I have stayed for a long stint in Syd...well that is the plan anyway! I know most folk get out as soon as they arrive because of the cost of living but I think I am prepared for it. And would rather have the shock of the expense at the beginning than at the end and be all disheartened cos everywhere else was so cheap.

Watch this space! ;)

no plenty stick around for longer periods than 2 weeks, for me its just a case of so many different events going on which i 'Must' catch before i settle somewhere ... plus what with experiencing the gold coast, melbourne b4 sydney it'll give me a better idea on where to crash for a while and work (thats my eventual plan)

yeah hostels are alittle more in sydney than other cities but i dont think its a hugeee difference!

doode take alook in the accomodation section, ... also what you after - nearer the city life of bars, restuarants etc or beach bums and BBQ

plenty of areas in and around Sydney -

manly
cogee
bondi

ive heard these are best for the beach life living (hostels sooo close to the beach etc)

have a blast!
