12 Days to go, you must be soooooo excited! I've got six months to wait and I'm excited now so I cant imagine what I'll be like when the time get nearer!!! I have decided that I will def be leaving the sunny UK on 14/05/04 and then stayig in Thailand for a few days and then onto Sydney. I'll probably stay there for a week or 2 and then make my way up the coast! Some of you may have already moved on to different places by then but I will def keep in touch through this site and see where you all are to meet up for this bevvie!!! Good luck and have fun!!!
Add one more to the number of people in Sydney around that time.
Yes a hot christmas does sound good. Will be a change from the snow.. well not the snow, the rain and general rubbish weather in London.
Nerves are gone, just split up with boyfriend and had it all booked to go to bangkok for a month then to auson the 26th dec 04. glad it happened before i went. The only thing is im really nervous about going on my own, dont know if i could. I Have friends in sydney but i dont know them that well, from an old job of mine and there not even travelling. There staying put in Sydney.
Im sick about bangkok. there is no way i would go on my own over there and i was soooooooo looking forward to it
Really dont know wat to do. Any advice for me
Im sure Bangkok will be fine, post some messages on this site, maybe you will find a companion.
I get to Oz beginning of December. There are loads of us in Sydney for Xmas and NYE and we are trying to arrange a meeting. When you get to Sydney you can email me and we can meet, Im travelling alone and want to meet people.
I second that. There'll be loads of us in Sydney all travelling alone and wanting to meet people so that shouldnt be a problem. I'm leaving in about 3 days and will be there for months.
And as for Bangkok, I do know a couple of people leaving to go there (a couple actually) at start of Nov. but dont think they'll be around for that long.
My advice from when I went to Thailand few yrs back is get on a trek in northern thailand (somewhere like chiang mai) that lasts a week or two and then you'll be put into a group with loads of other people. And then you can go to the islands off south coast and go on a scuba diving day or something and meet people through that as well as the infamous full moon party.. a km stretch of beach devoted to partying. It doesnt get better than that!!
firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to be in touch..
Rami, sounds like you did what I'm gonna do in a couple of weeks, any top tips? Bet you're well excited about now!
Di, don't worry about doing things on your own, even Thailand is possible I was worried about going there for 4 weeks on my own but I'm staying in Bangkok for a few days then gonna do a tour up to the north for a couple of weeks and then by the time that finishes I should be seasoned enough to explore the south by myself (hopefully ) You can book treks when you get there too apparently but I booked mine when I got my flight to Aus for the extra security
You've just got to do what you want to do and you'll have a ball whatever you do!!
Happy planning, see you there!
Just to let you know im arriving in sydney on 20th nov so if anyone wants to meet up id really appreciate some company! Am 22 yr old female from somerset. am in oz for three months and am hoping to travel up east coast (probably by coach) as far as cairns. any company for any parts of the trip would be great as im getting a bit apprehensive now!
Anyone interested in meeting up reply to this post/msg me (ecarter51) or email email@example.com.
hope to hear from u peeps soon...
Top tips are (sorry if you already know this) but defo stay on Kao Sahn road when you get to Bangkok (centre of traveller heaven). There are lots of bars and restaurants and places to stay down that road, all fairly cheap too.
We stayed on this beach called hideaway just round the corner from bottle beach which fewer (but still enough) travellers go to making it a nicer place to stay. Then you can get a long boat to the full moon party on the night which takes about 40 mins there and same back.. and you wont have to spend the night (or following day) in a landfill (unless you want to that is!)
Cant remember name of guesthouse we stayed in in Chiang Mai but they all pretty much do 3 day to wk long treks. We were put into a group with 5 other girls and 2 blokes making it an even split. Got to meet some cool people..
And Emma, I'll be around in Sydney when you get there.
Very excited now, only three weeks till I go! Arggggggggh! I went and had my jabs last night, my arms are killing me! So thats my excuse for doing no work today! (as if i need one) i'm spending two days in Singapore, so if anyone is gonna be there around the same time let me know, 29th and 30th? If not I guess I'll see you all in Sydney!
