Sorry guys, I am completely clueless on everything travel related.......I am staying in hostels throughout my stay in Australia so do I need a sleeping bag or bed linen or sumthing??? If so, Is it just as easy to pick up some when I get there? Thanks x x

You can get away with out one. The best thing would be to bring a sleep sack, two sheets sewn together. A lot of hostels do not allow sleeping bags because of potentially bringing in bed bugs. Hope this helps.

The hostels I stayed at in Aussie all had linen and blankets provided. You might need extra if you plan to be in VIC over the winter, but other than that, and unless you plan on camping also, a sleeping bag would just be dead weight

i always carry a pillow case too as you never quite know where those pillows have ben and very easy to fit in the bag and handy to carry other things in :)

Thats a great tip JAM, it also doubles as a good laundry sack to lug all your washing to the laundry too :)

I am taking my Winne-the-Pooh pillowcase that I have had since I was tiny...I am most definitely NOT tiny now! And its a little bit of home too.

I am sorry, I disagree with everyone - you are a girl, take a sleeping bag. Even if it's just a very light one. Girls do feel the chill more than men and you never know, you may want to camp out under the stars one day, and a sleeping bag will come in very handy. Also, if you head out into the desert, it gets very cold at night. My memory of Uluru (Ayers Rock), in early autumn, was that it was absolutely freezing at night.

Cheers :)

I went to Australia last year for 3 months. I stayed in many hostels and they all had clean linen, so don't worry. You will only need a sleeping bag, if you decide to camp ( for example at Uluru). But even in this case, if you go there on an organized trip, they usually give you sleeping bags.
