Hello all,

Have just joined travellers point and have found it fantastic!! Great travel advice and nifty tips...

So I now need advice regarding Argentina and any ecommendations would be great!!

My husband and I will be in Argentina in august and intend/hope to do about 3 weeks there (could be slightly longer if needed)....As much as I would love to do Patagonia i feel that will have to be another trip in itself...So here's my rough itinerary..(I am hoping to do all our travel by bus, but will definitely consider flights if needed)

BA for 4 days
Bus to Mar del Plata ( or Bahia Blanca..undecided..is it worth it??) - for 3 days
Bus to Mendoza with perhaps a stop on the way ( any recommendations?) - Would like to be in Mendoza for a week
Bus to Cordoba for 3-4 days
Bus to Salta ( then would like to do a tour of the salt plains )

From here we head into Bolivia and up to Peru, which i am also looking at....though more research on my part is needed for this....

Does this sound plausible or should there be some 'tweaking' done here?

Thanks for you advice...much appreciated

For three weeks, this is certainly plausible. The trip from Bahia to Mendoza takes you through Santa Rosa and San Rafael, which are also nice mainly for their lack of tourism. Alternatively you can travel via San Luís, but imo the scenery is less rewarding on that route.

The atlantic coast in August is not particularly interesting, though; most accom and restaurants will be closed, and the weather will be cold and windy. Nevertheless, if you like that kinda weather for walking the beach, you'll enjoy it. Only, make inquiries in advance about accom. I would recommend Necochea or Pinamar or Villa Gesell over Bahia or Mar del Plata, because they're smaller.

Cheers for that..

Would it be better then to go via Rosario and over to Mendoza that way??...So much to do so little time......

Thanks

If you come from the Atlantic coast, I would go over Santa Rosa rather than San Luís; if you come from BsAs, I would go San Luís rather than Rosario.
