So I have heard that wearing clothing, having a backpack, that looks at all military/green will get you into trouble. Is this true?
I am curious. Does the color your backpack or clothing affect the probability of being targeted while traveling in third world countries? Does torro red affect aggression abroad too?
actually that is true for some countries, check this out:
"Please avoid camouflage clothing (even fashion items) as it is illegal to wear in Zimbabwe and some arrests of person wearing camouflage has been reported."
Yep. depends on where u r going. Places like Myanmar, for instance, wont take too kindly to a foreigner decked in something resembling military fatigues. On a general note, if a hijack does happen, the first person they "take out" are those police/military personnel to eliminate threats. Not much of a chance that happening, but if u have a choice, try to avoid looking too militarish.
I think locals will be intimidated too by a foreigner decked as such. You definitely wont find them as welcoming in countries where the government isnt very stable/is too stable.
i have an army bergen i'll be using for my backpack trip to australia, surely australia will be fine for such gear???
Australia should be fine. Generally, the places to avoid wearing anything that looks too military is places where there is some instability or there are revolutionaries about. I have heard of it being a bad idea in Africa, as well as Columbia (at least northern Columbia).
yea, i suppose u wont have any problems at all in Oz. Happy travels
I'm not sure about New Zealand, last I heard the sheep were planning an uprising unless their demands were met...
Haha yeah, even us Kiwis ourselves are a bit worried about those sheep.......
