Hi guys,

Just a quick question. I have the Inca trail booked for the 28th May. Wasn't really planning on taking hiking boots with me though. Is this a bad idea?

Regards

Paul

I hiked the Inca Trail about a year ago. I took low ankle hikers that were water proof and did not need them. It rained on the third day so might feet were dry, but for the others I just sweated and my feet were wet anyway. The terain is not difficult or rocky causing concern about twisting you ankle. Standard trainers would be fine. I also with suggest hiking up the mountain of Macchu Picchu (the one in all the pictures) I think it is Winya Wanya. It looks intimating but will worth it. Another hike that is worth it, is hiking up Putucusi, a few hundred yards down the railroad tracks from Agua Calientes. Hike takes about an hour one way and has awesome views of Macchu Picchu. There are some longer ladders that are not for the faint hearted but definately worth checking out. Enjoy. PM me with any additional questions.
