Hi guyz my names muns
jus booked 6 weeks in asia starting on bangkok on the 17th of april.........i plan to see all the hot spots in thailand, malaysia and singapore in thosee 6 weeks...........i have come across a potential problem...... the full moon party which i definetly want to attend is on the 20th of april..........i was wondering whether id have time to see bangkok and then head south for the full moon party in time?? how long does it take to get to kho phangan??
also would it make much sense coming down to the south and then heading back up to chang mai??
there is another full moon party on the 20th but then i would be compromising my time spent in malaysia and singapore!!
i just really dont know whats best!!
also any tips on what to do and where not to miss would be of great help!
cameron highlands and khao sok national park sound amazing!!
Full moon party is definitely worth it!
The flights to Chiang Mai and Ko Samui (Where you'll then take a boat to Koh Phangha) are really short from BKK. Maybe 1 hour? It's then a boat ride from Ko Samui, your hotel can usually arrange that for you. I recommend heading to the Full Moon party before it gets dark, if possible.
I did a trip for 3 weeks to ChiangMai, Ko Samui, Phuket, and Bkk for 3 weeks.
Well I was there last week so maybe I can help, a plane from Bangkok to Samui will cost you about 4300 Baht (one way) the return flight a little more, about (4600 Baht) the plane takes approx 40 mins, when at the airport in Samui it will cost you 150 Baht to get a taxi to the Big Buddah dock, from there you can get the one hour boat (another 150 Baht) (which leaves every 2 hours to Had Rid (last boat 6:20pm daily) - where the full moon is) you can literally walk to the beach in 3 mins if not less.
The other option is to get the night bus and boat ticket from Koh San Road, costs about 500 Baht, bus leaves about 7:30pm arrives about 6am then get the boat about 8am get to Koh Pangyang via a quick stop at Samui about... 11:30am ish...
You can book both the above at any of the numerous travell agents on Koh San Road. (The plane normally the day before, the bus and boat the same day if you are lucky).
If you want to store your bags in Bangkok leave them at D&D Inn on Koh San Roan (right in the middle you can't miss it). You dont have to be staying there and it will cost you about 20 Baht a day I think from memory (give the guys who look after your bags a good tip and all will be ok 50-100 Baht) you can leave your stuff there for upto 3 or 6 months I can't remember, after that they give them to charity.
Hope this helps
PS Be safe with your stuff at the Full Moon Party and be very careful with people offering you things which you shouldn't take - alot of them are undercover cops. Only take enough money to last you the night and to be safe, buy a disposable camera just for the full moon.
