How do you assess accomodation before choosing and making a booking?
I'm about to go cross-eyed looking at hotels and reviews online for the trips I'm making this year.
Here's what I'm doing
- Check out listings in travel guides, official tourism websites, sites like hostelworld.com
- Check out reviews on tripadvisor.com
- Check out youtube to see if there're user-posted videos
- Ask around for opinions
How do you do it? And any tips on getting cheaper prices that what is posted online?
You know, that is exactly what I'm doing at the moment. Well, not as this very moment. But you know what I mean.
I think that what you're doing is exactly what you should be doing. It sounds pretty thorough to me. But I'm sure that other people who have done some real traveling would have better advice for you. But just thought you should know that I'm going through the same thing. It really can drive someone a bit crazy!!! But I haven't been to hostelworld yet so thanks for the site tip!!! I hope you don't go absolutely mad trying to find the right place!!! Good luck!!!
That's what I've done. Gone on many websites to see what other people who have stayed there say. I also got some travel books, including the one for Italy by MTV because I figured it would have more emphasis on hostels and fun places. I also looked at their location so they weren't too far from places I wanted to see. Having their own free internet, laundry, organized activities, free breakfast, no lockout/curfew times were all pluses.
