I'm a 20 year old Irish girl, travelling on my tod this summer - starting in Belize, then Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and finishing up with my last month in CR.
I've planned a good bit of wwoofing and volunteer work but just gonna play that by ear in case it goes drastically wrong at any stage - don't wan2 b too prepared!!
Yep so if any1's gonna be around that neck of the woods just HOLLER!!! I'm into music, dancing, drinking, trying to surf, bumming around on the beach, hiking etc. Also hoping to do my open water scuba diving PADI licence in Utila, off honduras at some stage - and did i mention I'm defo on a serious BUDGET!! So hostels, hammocks and chicken buses all the way!!! And my Spanish is shit at the mo but trying to improve!!
I just got back from Nicaragua yesterday and I'm already dying to go back and travel even more around Central America. I was only there 10 days but my Spanish has improved amazingly, one thing I will say is that you would really need to know a lot of Spanish as only the rich people speak English. I also have friends in Nicaragua that could provide some free or very very cheap accomodation (one of them owns a hotel out there), although some of the contacts I only met once for maybe 10 minutes but they are usually very trust worthy. Also have friends with contacts who could hook up with free accomodation in Costa Rica.
So if you looking for a travel bud would love it.
Hey Erin, - I know you posted it a while ago, but I just saw your post. I am flyin’ solo from Cancun down through Belize, Guatemala and then probably El Salvador and Honduras beginning next week. Maybe if we end up in the same town we can hang out and catch a few bus rides together. I am 26 and live near Boston in New Hampshire in the US. My plan is to backpack from Cancun down into Belize during my first 10 days - which would be a great time to find others to travel with as Belize is expensive for solo travelers (I too am on a budget). Then I plan to probably go to Tikal, (also might be nice to have others along for this as well) and then to a meditation and yoga retreat on Lake Atitlan, then down to Xela for Spanish lessons and host family living. (I took Spanish in high school, but am VERY rusty) My plan is to probably hit El Salvador for some cheap surfing lessons and probably learn to dive in Honduras at some point, prob toward the end of the trip, before heading back through Chiapas in Mexico to catch my flight out to Cancun in October. Funny our trip times roughly match up and many of the destinations. I'm into hanging out on the beach, live music, and like to party as well, but I'm pretty low key about it most of the time. I've always been interested in the woof thing and want to learn to farm, but didn't plan on it for this trip - at least not yet. Almost ended up doing it last summer in the US but had to work to make some $. Also hope to volunteer, but heard that many sights require a 3 mo. commitment, so I might come back and do that, but hope to do at least a little this time. Looks like we are interested in many of the same things. Hope to hear from you! Have an amazing trip. Feel free to send me an email if you'd like - Cheers! Adam

I'm flying into Guate in August then winding my down to Panama City in December. Always interested in meeting new people or learning of new places, so keep me informed of how things are going. Good tripping!
