Hi all,

Well as the last leg of my RTW trip, I will be arriving in Santiago on Aug 25th (subject to change!) and have 2 months to explore before returning to London.

I would like to go straight to Lima, work my way to La Pas and down into Chile, across to Beunos Aires and up through Brazil to Rio.

I am a solo traveller, and would love to hear from anyone who can a)offer any advice on routes and trips and also b) any like minded solo backpackers who are in South America around this time.

Be great to hear from you

Cheers

Lee;)

Hey Lee,
If you are planing to fly around south america you should consider buying an air pass (must be bought abroad) because the plane tickets are quite expensive to be purchased here on last minute.
Please check the links below for airpasses:
TAM - SOUTH AMERICA AIR PASS

LAN - SOUTH AMERICA AIR PASS

And a brazilian low cost airline:

Wish you a nice trip!

Hi Lee,

If you are flying LAN from Santiago to Lima I strongly recomend you to book your tickets from the Chilean or Peruvian version of the website. I will explain my self...

At www.LAN.com, the entry screen says "su pais" (your country).

- Choose Peru and the round-trip Lima-Iquitos (Mar 9-11) is $49 each way for example.

- Choose UK/USA/Canada, and the fare (same route and dates) is $111 each way.

I currently live in Lima, feel free to contact me if you need any advice!

Carola

Sorry about my previous msg, as I asumed you were flying from Stgo to Lima (as I usualy do), and now I read well your original post... anyway, the same is valid to travel from Peru to anywere. That is:

Now, if you are traveling from Lima to short distance cities (like Paracas, Nasca, Trujillo) the best option is the Bus, which are very affordable and confortable.

As for accomodation, there are plenty of options depending of what are you looking for. If you need some recomendations about it, just let me know your expectations and I can sugest something for you!
