Myself and two friends (all guys mid 20's) are going to do a quick tour of the South island this March and were wondering what people would recommend doing? We arrive in Christchurch plan to hire a car and then drive around the island until we get back to Christchurch. The only thing we absolutely have to do is jump out of a plane at some stage, so would be extremely grateful if anyone can reccomend a good, yet reasonably priced place to do this too.
Thanks once again,
I plan on arriving in New Zealand this June and the one thing I have to do while I'm there is the Milford Sound track. It's considered the most beautiful track to walk in the world. I think it takes about 5 days to do. People tell me that it's the most beautiful place they've ever seen. If you googled Milford Sound I bet you could find tons of info on it. I hope you guys have fun!!!
Queenstown - go visit and the surrounding area, its simply stunning. I went jet boating and then canoeing on the Glenorchy river which was pretty cool.
I liked Christchurch also - it was a nice city laid back atmosphere. Take a punt on the Avon river and watch the world go by - and the ducks!!
I did a helicopter trip over Milford Sound and landed on one of the glaciers. Then did a boat trip through the sound. I have heard an over night stay in the Sound is pretty good.
Cannot advise ref the the sky dive - l hate heights!!!
fresh from doing the 15,000 foot skydive in Queenstown - knarly!! - easily one of the best experiences of my life! ... the day after i did the Nevis bungee jump which is easily the most scared ive ever been in my life - but was amping after the jump!
with regards to costs - its more expensive in Queenstown - believe the cheapest place to skydive in NZ is Taqpo on the north island ... the Fox Glacier dive is suppose to be spectacualr - but the sceneray i saw in Queenstown was just insane!
have a good jump!!
