Heya,
I'm in Canada at the mo, living in Alberta just outside Banff National Park. I have a WHV but I did my visa by myself. I've had a blast so far and am just starting to plan my two months trip through eastern Canada.
I've met a lot of people who have done the SWAP (BUNAC) programme and I have a couple of tips for you:
Don't set up your SIN number through SWAP (BUNAC) - they say it takes 4 - 6 weeks but if you go direct to Service Canada, they can give you the number on the spot.
Shop around for a bank account, you'll probably get a better deals if you do it yourself - it's super easy however you do need an address - I think you can use SWAPs one.
If you are starting Vancouver, I would recommend staying at the HI Downtown on Burnaby St. It's a lot quieter than the other hostels.
PM me if you have any questions
Helen

Hi Helen, thanks very much for the info!

Has really helped, thats cool about the bank account, I will certainly look into that.

Wow sounds like you are having an awesome time, Im so excited but nervous at the same time if you know what I mean, sure I will meet peeps though.

Your job sounds cool, when you planning on moving on?

Im going to start in Toronto and spend a few months there, get a wee job etc then move on.

Thanks so much for your advice, if you have any more tips let me. I will prob have more questions soon haha!

Take care x x

Don't stress about meeting new people, it's pretty easy. I just ended up hanging out with the people in my dorm then meeting new people through them. Now most of my friends in Alberta are Canadians who I met through work or my workmates.
I'm staying at my job until the end of April and then travelling for a couple of months. I'll end up in Toronto in early July for my flight to the UK.
Good luck with your preparations!
