Hi there!

Planning to hit Goa mid May til end of June for Yoga training... but i have two weeks prior(early May) to have a "taste" of India.... where would you recommend, in terms of itinerary for one who's visiting India for the first time???

I really would love to balance the two weeks with experiencing a bit of the people/culture/food/city-life like Delhi/Agra for the Taj Mahal.... but i also LOVE nature, walking and a bit of trekking with beautiful countryside sceneries- which South India seems to be promising instead! What to do?

Any advice if i HAD to choose a destination for 2 weeks travel before settling in Goa?? North or south? What are the must see places?

Would love and truly appreciate any advice/tips/stories!!!

The month of May would be quite hot in north India, but u can manage a few days in the north visiting Delhi and Agra(Taj Mahal), then u can head South and visit Bangalore--Mysore--Ooty and then head to the beautiful state of Kerala where i would advise u to spend at least 6-7 days visiting Alleppy, Munnar, Thekkady and Kovalam.

Do let me know if u need info about a specific place:)

Cheers and have a nice trip
Arif

Hi winnie,
welcome to india.. May is a hotter season and I would suggest more of south for a 2 weeks schedule...If u like hill stations try ooty, munnar & kodaikanal...If u like culture visit u can try mysore, hampi & madurai..If u like backwaters and beaches kerala is best option..

Thank U all for such great advice!!!

South India is drawing me in and i cannot wait to be intoxicated with India- I've opted to see Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty- Munnar- Thekkady- Alleppy and Cochin!!!

Is it faster to get from Bangalore to Mysore by train or bus?? Which is safer for a single lady traveller? I keep hearing also that reservations are often required when catching a train and there are no guarantees of a seat (which is SO different here in Melbourne)- is reservation something in whichwe can do on the day or does it need to be booked ahead of time -via online??

Thanks again everybody!
