Argentina/Chile in 2 weeks

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Argentina/Chile in 2 weeks

Hi All,
The subject of this post might make me sound way too ambitious. I am contemplating a trip to Argentina and Chile around mid-March. I am trying to cover the following places in a 2-week span.

Valparaiso
Pucon
Torres Del Paine
Punta Arenas
Ushuaia
Perito Moreno Glacier Park and Mt Fitzroy
Buenos Aires

Does this sound even remotely realistic? If so, do you have any ideas on how many days would be ideal at each place? Your input will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,

Pranav

Yes, it is a bit too ambitious.

Although theoretically not totally impossible, it will require lots of long bustrips and/or the occasional (expensive) flight. Also it means you don't have time to really visit and experience the places, it will be rushed.

Are you flying into Santiago and out of BA?

Including travelling from Santiago and to BA, I guess your 2 weeks will be best spend totally in Patagonia, so about 3 days Perito Moreno / Fits Roy/ El Chalten, 4 days Torres del Paine, several days around Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas and several days at Tierra del Fuego. From Ushuaia you can fly back to Buenos Aires.
Or fly from Santiago to Punta Arenas first and then onto Ushuaia and back north and from El Calafate to BA for example.

Been in SA for 3.5 months now and by FAR the WORST place I have been is Valparaiso. By miles, and I mean that.

If you do decide to go avoid YoYo hostel. Imagine your dog pee'd on your carpet upstairs and it came through the ceiling and took the wallpaper off your bedroom wall and it was warm. That about sums it up for me.

Very ambitious plan though.

TdP and surroundings defo worth a good bit of time and for the outdoor enthusiast Pucon is class too. Plenty to do and the area is simply beautiful. Climb Villarica in one day trip essential.

In Puerto Natales go to Afrigonia restaurant. One of best in SA I have found. Mix of African and Patagonian influences. 2 blocks from main strip. If you read my blog on the Torres there will no doubt be more info.

OK. I've had to chop it down to just Argentina since some of my friends won't get their Chilean visa in time for a trip. So here is a revised list of places:

Buenos Aires - 4 nights
Ushuaia - 2 nights
Argentinian Patagonia (Perito Moreno Glacier, El Chalten and Monte Fitz Roy) - 3 nights
Iguazu Falls - ??? nights

Any recommendations on where I need more time or less time, please let me know. Any suggestions on what else I can fit in, please do let me know. Thank you.
