In Fiji-like everywhere else-you get what you pay for.

In terms of cheapo dive schools that means dirty worn out gear, slipshod lazy instructors and-lots and lots of broken promises/missed opportunities.

If receiving documented PADI Certification is important then choose carefully and check details-I could go on and on about horror stories I've heard but it's your life and your decision.

You seem to have missed the point Sam. No one was looking for cheapo dive schools. Its a simple matter of world economics. If you buy a hotel room in NYC for the night, will a room of the same standard in India cost the same? No, the cost of living is different, and its the same in Fiji. I can buy a dive course at a very good school, for nearly half the price Id pay in the US for the same level of school.

but thanks for your input anyway.

So you think-then again you have never been to Fiji-all your cant about world economics can't disguise your lack of experience.

Dude, just a cursory look at your previous posts shows that everyone of them is derogatory and antagonistic to other users. You have nothing of value to add to the this website and you really need an attitude adjustment. Best of luck.

Best of luck.

Your lack of experience won't hurt you too much when visiting Fiji-people are accustomed to raw tourists and will treat you accordingly.
