Hi,

I apologize if theres a thread on somthing similar but i couldn't find one - please direct me if there is!

Anyway,

Im off to Malaysia for 3 months with no access point for charging batteries and im wondering what the best camera on the market would be?

The humidity is quite intense and i don't know if this would effect a digital (although i don't think it will) and it will need to run off AA batteries ideally.

Im going to be taking photos ranging from close up wildlife to action shots of animals and people.

I then intend on using the camera around east asia for around 4 months. (So weight might be an issue!)

Any ideas of the best kind of camera for this kind of excursion?

Hi Matt,

I can assure you that humidity will not be a problem for your camera while you are there. In the mean time, you may want to purchase your camera in Kuala Lumpur, as Malaysia do not have any VAT (yet) and cameras are duty free items. About which camera, take a look at the Canon Powershot A570 IS (review). It takes only 2 AA batteries.

Don't worry about the humidity .

Canon Powershot is a good choice, ive been using mine for close to 2 years on my travels, and its still working perfectly fine (except that the shutter doesnt close properly). Its rather hardy, compact, and try to get one that runs on AA batteries which are easy enough to get almost everywhere in the world...
