<insert indecent swear word>
The following has to be one of the worst quotes I have ever read. I was already questioning the intelligence of people who can be influenced by religion before I saw this..............................

No, everyone is born Christian. Only later in life do people choose to stray from Jesus and worship satan instead. Atheists have the greatest "cover" of all, they insist they believe in no god yet most polls done and the latest research indicates that they are actually a different sect of Muslims. You can't argue with a fundamentalist. It's like trying to talk to a chatty Cathy doll.

I'm trying in vain to find a quote from Robert kennedy that I read last week. It went something like "What's dangerous about a fundamentalist isn't his beliefs but his intolerance of others' beliefs." Wise words.

Here is another quote from a Christian on a Christian chat room.

"I honestly don't care about your rights. If it were up to me, all Atheists would be burnt at the stake and or cast into a river with weights tied to their ankles and or placed before the firing squad, etc etc etc."

But what is this word fundamentalist about? Is the difference between a religious person and a fundamentalist person like the difference between a person who inflicts grievious bodily harm and one who murders? Really, to whichever extent they follow those religious teachings makes no sense. Why hang on to that old stuff long after it has been proven that it cant possibly be real. Or dont they have the grey cells to read and understand any scientific research?

So let them kill me. I have a personal disbelief in the concept of religion.

My feeling, Mel, is that religious people try to find ways to better their own lives through their beliefs, whereas fundamentalists try to browbeat other people into believing what they do. It's interesting that the quotes you bring up are full of hate, violence, intolerance, and just about every other non-religious sentiment you can think of. I wouldn't waste my energy getting upset over these. Better to ignore people who talk like that rather than give them a forum to argue in.

And they take womens needs into consideration. They would never have us suffer the indignity of being unmarried after when we are no longer virgins. And rape certainly should not go unpunished according to them.

Quote from same link:
If u have sex before marriage then in Gods eyes u are married to that person if a man rapes a woman in Gods eyes they are married it sucks for the girl but what can we do

Better to ignore people who talk like that .

A bit difficult to ignore when religion has such an adverse effect on human rights around the world.
Isnt it about time it was banned since it has such power to brainwash?

You're not quoting dictators--you're digging up anonymous rants from around the Internet. These people just want a forum to rant in. Take that away, ignore them, don't take the bait, etc., and you leave them powerless.

If by "it" you mean religion, that you'd be using a fundamental tactic to thwart fundamentalism. The downside of democracy is that you have to put up with stuff you don't agree with. So long as people practice religion without infringing on others' rights, then they have every right to say as they please.

Wow, so now I know I am actually part of a different sect of the Islam

So now I guess it is time to hijack a plane or put on some suicidal bomb under my shirt and kill them all.
Of course that is much more fun than actually enjoying the real life, where religion is for the weak and poor only

That said, I don't have any problems with religious types, as long as I don't have to conversate with those people. And let's be honest, do we have to fear from the Buddhists or Hinduists? I guess not, because they are not (like the quote that Tway mentioned) intolerant against other religions.
And let's not forget, that many refugees are actually from countries that are muslim. So their influence in the western world is much bigger and probably the situation in their home countries is much much worse than in countries with a more sane religion, where gays and non-believers are not thrown with their heads down from the nearest minaret
