Hello all, I am off on my adventures in a few weeks, so have decided to start test running the packing process. My friend has lent me a backpack which is of ample size, but there is one thing concerning me. The top of the pack is not zipped, it is closed with a drawstring and then the hood clips over it. Is this safe? I am not sure how to best protect my bag as there are no zips to put locks through.
Do you think this type of backpack will be ok?
I am in the same boat. My ex linkied me to the Catch 22 products website and now I want to spend spend spend!
Seriously considering the rucksack pack as I am taking my laptop to Oz with me.
You're fine. While you're travelling I'm sure you will see tons of backpackers everywhere you go. You can be that 9 out of 10 of them have a drawstring top. Mines does. Just make sure that your hood clips are as tight as they can be. It's rather hard for any would-be thief to simply open it up. Really, you'll never have to worry about anyone stealing things by opening the top. Almost all backpack related thefts involve someone cutting through with a knife or stealing the whole pack altogether. Keep a watchful eye and you'll be alright. If you have no one you trust to watch your pack, NEVER leave it alone.
