Hi Guys

Considering weather what would be better choice in second half of Jan to first half of Feb:
- Indonesia - Java, Bali, Lombok, Flores
- Malaysian Borneo, specifically Sarawak

Well, in both cases you will have hot and humid weather and unfortunately it's rainy season in both places as well.
Although Sarawak does not have a distinct dry season, Bali etc. has. But Jan. is the wettest month on Bali with around 350 mm of rain in about 21 rainy days. On the other hand, this also applies to Kuching (Sarawak) with 29 rainy days and almost 600 mm a rain in January! February is just slightly better.
In general, Sabah has less rain than Sarawak by the way. Although this varies from place to place a lot. Sandakan on the eastcoast of Sabah is about as rainy as Bali (and the rest of the region 'around' Bali by the way), while Kota Kinabalu just receives about 120 mm rain in Jan.

thanks Utrecht. I've been to Sabah before and Sarawak is very tempting but considering it could potentially rain every day I will maybe skip it and head straight to Thailand... But if I do that I'm sure I'll regret it. So I've got a hard decision to make! :)
