Has been 2 months since i got back from my 6 months trip to europe and asia. The feeling of being home was not too pleasing, you were switched off totally for a long period of time, and now its back to reality. Was really thinking of setting up my own hostel for the past few weeks, but not possible now as rental is so ex. Therefore started sending out resume, and got my first interview today, and it really sank on to me that I will be going back to the same boring life again. Has anyone not work since returning back, if so, what did you do? Back to your same job or something else?

i originally just took a leave of absence so had my job to go back to but it was too easy to go settle back in and i started to feel like i'd never left so i started to look for a new job, its the same type of work but i moved from the suburbs of Dublin, Ireland to Utrecht in Holland. In the space of a few weeks I'd moved house, started a new job, enlisted in Dutch classes and tried to get used to living closer to the same job ...different everything else !!! To change job was easy, as I was applying for work in a similar field, I applied to the first job I saw and after a long process I got it.... ...but to be honest i'm already starting to save for the next trip. The last one was 8 months and I want the next one to be 18-24 months.....

I don't have what you would call a 'career' job as I work in detail at a car service company (Wash, lube, etc). I've been there long enough that I was allowed to leave for a few months on my last trip and start right back up a few days after I got home. Of course, I hated it for the first month or so. Oh well. I will have more problems later in the future if I have a career job. I intend to work my life around travel so I hope I get a job that suits my needs haha.

Last time I went away I had to go straight back to uni...

why don't you take a look at getting a more perhaps rewarding job? say in the public sector? healthcare, social care? maybe with something that isn't like a 9-5 grind but is more varied? or one that involves the possibility for travel? like research or something? or a travel agents? or work abroad?

or even studying like me??!?!

be happy the opportunities are limitless!
