Driving in Malta and car rental

Travel Forums Europe Driving in Malta and car rental

We are going to Malta for 5 days on 28th April. Staying in St Georges bay

We were considering picking up a car from the Airport and using it to drive where ever throughout the 5 days.

Does anybody have an advice? Is it worth it?...if so where is the best place to rent one from? I am 23 if that makes a difference to the price etc

Any help would be great

Hi there, 23 years old makes a big difference and many companies will only rent to a 25 year old but will sometimes offer insurance cover for another driver as well. (any driver policy in your friends name if he/she is over 25)

Yes it is worth it since without a little car/jeep you will miss out most of the best bits of the island. I cant say if you have the best price (obviously) but make sure you have a car which is road worthy. ALWAYS check the car over and make sure you know what is expected on return. I do have lists of people we rent from but am not sure if I can publish such things on a forum .
I am registered here as a travel helper so email me for any advice/ hire/flats/things to do when you get here.

Agreed with Maltainfo. 23 is kindda difficult to rent a car. If you do the access and insurance would be more expensive than normal. Dont forget we drive on the 'wrong' side of the road here and always be careful how others are driving.
Dont get me wrong its fun to and I completely agree with renting a car. But your skills might be tested a few times here :).
In any case upon arrival, there will be car hire offices at the airport which would offer their services to you.

Enjoy your holiday here. The weather is great in April.

I'm sure you'll love it.
